Yes and as it is not an accessory they want a copy of the warranty certificate with a purchase invoice to trigger a return and replacement at their own expense otherwise the shipping and repair costs are at my expense

I myself own an xbox and it seems to me that microsoft is the one who takes in guarantee. I had a problem with one of the controllers provided in the pack, I just had to call mircosoft and they sent me one back.
Have you tried calling them?
